Mindful about your potential

We offer you the opportunity to help with non-profit projects with a social impact. Why? Because we have experienced that GMAT test takers are ambitious and talented people: your contribution can make an important difference.

You receive a discount on your course fee if you give one day of your time to a non-profit project through Stichting Nederland Cares or Coöperatie We Helpen. After your course registration we will email you how to arrange your volunteering.

I walked with an elderly lady from nursinghome De Werf. It was very interesting to spend an afternoon with this lady, who is a little bit lonely sometimes. The walk and talk gave a lot of satisfaction on both sides. The nursing home had even given a little money to us so that we could buy a cup of coffee with a cake. The concept of Mindful GMAT really appeals to me: you do something for society and you get yourself a discount on the course. Highly recommended for anyone who would like to complete its GMAT with an excellent score in a socially responsible way!

I have helped in a secondhand clothingstore from the Salvation Army, the Tweede Kanswinkel. Together with another volunteer, I was responsible for helping customers and keeping the store neat. The atmosphere was very good and friendly. I saw that most of the people came to the store for a chat; the social aspect of this shop is very important.

At the Kopblok in the South of Rotterdam I have helped immigrants learning the Dutch language. I have supported the teacher along with another volunteer. We have helped students with their exercises on the computer during the first part of the lesson. Then we made exercises to improve their knowledge of Dutch society and languageon on the basis of a workbook, It was a fun thing to do: the people we helped were very positive. They indicated that they learned the language and culture fast by having conversations with young , enthusiastic people !

I have chosen to watch a movie twice, Andre Rieu in concert, along with the elderly in a nursing home. This is because there I have had a good time: the employee of the nursing home was very friendly and the elderly were easy to entertain. In addition, I am also convinced that it is the best for the elderly to not always have different persons helping them, but rather someone who already knows their name and all are aware of what coffee or tea they love.

I have helped the NDSM Kinderatelier. At this fun art project I have helped children between 6 and 12 years with their sculptures. It was fun to stimulate the creativity of these children. A very special project and I'm definetely going to the exhibition!

One of the volunteer projects I worked on was a Bingo night for residents of a nursing home. At the beginning of the evening, the permanent staff and I picked up the residents out of their rooms and then we played bingo together. I have worked with older people often and I find it much fun. It was a pleasant evening, worth repeating! :-)

I have helped a Creaclub for people with intellectual disabilities. At this activity there were about three volunteers and fifteen hobbyists to help them. First we had a coffee and chat. I really liked this but it was also exciting, because it is not easy to have a good conversation, and it is therefore something you have to get used to. It was really fun doing crafts! We had to make a owls garland and help the hobbyists with the cutting and pasting. It was very nice to be so busy, and it was a very pleasant experience!

I have worked through Mindful GMAT / Netherlands Cares at Call of the Mall. The aim of this project is to introduce visitors of the Hoog Catharijne shopping center in Utrecht with different types of art. My job was to give a brief explanation to visitors of the exhibition of a work of art and the underlying meaning of the artist. It was a very fun project to help with!

I helped the Weggeefwinkel situated at Jonckbloetplein in The Hague. There I helped organize the stuff in the store and I rode the bus to retrieve belongings. It was very nice to meet so many active volunteers. Also, you get to meet so many people who have their own story, why they donate their stuff and why others come to pick up their stuff. I thought it was a good and fun project!

One of the projects I've done through Mindful GMAT / Netherlands Cares is assisting in a football training of Forza Friends. Forza Friends is a football club within DVSU for physically and / or mentally handicapped children. The training went basically like a normal football training, but the participants needed a little more guidance. The energy that I felt from working with the group of participants, was really nice. I sweated myself in the game, and enjoyed the training, thanks to the help of the projectleader.
